Kinesys is a technology company that specialises in motion control systems for the entertainment industry. More specifically, they work with motors that allow events to have rigs that are able to move.
Vector
Vector is the name of the software used to control the motors. It is an entry-level motion control software. Using this, you can rapidly enter cue information for how you want the motors to operate. Additionally, this software allows programmers to create and implement complex sequences. This includes an array of different movements, timings, and speeds of the motions.
Training Course
Recently our rigging manager at StagecraftUK, Chris Salt, undertook a training course in order to learn how to operate this software and the motors. This was the Kinesys Technical Training and Vector Course. This provided Chris with the education needed to operate the Kinesys system. The course offered a detailed look at the key products the company distributes. Furthermore, the training delivered information on how to set up the system and program both basic and complex moves. Also, Chris was shown how to record the movements and link cues to make sequences.
Soon after the training, Chris was able to put his new skills in to action for the annual Cambridge Weight Plan convention. The theme for this event was The Greatest Showman. They had 3 aerial artists that performed on rigs which were hanging from the ceiling. Throughout these performances, the rigs needed to follow a sequence of movements. For this we used Kinesys products and technology which was programmed by Chris. This allowed the performance to be even more spectacular and was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
Not only did these new skills make the Cambridge convention extra special, they also open many more opportunities for future events. It means event planners can be even more creative and push boundaries on the experience their guests receive.
